***SPOILER ALERT***
Ultra - Seven Days is around 3/4 years old now - so there's every chance you've already read it, and know the basic plot - three superheroine friends, Pearl Penalosa (Ultra) Olivia Arancina (Aphrodite) and Jennifer Janus (Cowgirl). At the start of the book, Olivia convinces the group to get their fortunes read, which leads into three different predictions - one of love, one of loss and one of receiving what you have given...
All in all - the book plays out pretty well, with some nice twists and a sweet storyline overall - one which will resonate with anyone looking for or having lost true love.
Now having said all of this - I can't give the book a high score. And when you see my reasons why - this will probably be the first of many reviews that people don't agree with. I didn't dislike this book at all - but I wasn't 'wowed' with it.
The book works on a number of levels, making readers think long and hard about their own lives - if they have gone through some of the same experiences, and they are in a similar (single) place to Ultra.
I've been through most every one of the emotions within this book - and I can talk from experience enough to say that the Luna brothers have written this extremely well.
For me however, having moved away from this particular period of my life, I find myself struggling to appreciate it as much as others so obviously could.
And for this reason...
Pete's Score: 3 out of 5
(I do thoroughly recommend this book to everyone out there - but I'd read the first few pages before buying it to see if you have the same problem as me)
