Ok - so I'll come right out and admit it - this is one of my guilty pleasures.
I know I shouldn't like this comic book. I know Friday The 13th has had a 'checkered' history when it comes to comics. And I know it won't win me any friends when I say...
I'm totally surprised at how much I enjoyed this comic...!
Initially, when I was in the comic book store, I was a little skeptical. I toyed with the idea of not bothering with it - but three things drew me in.
Number 1 - the fantastic cover artwork by Brandon Badeaux and Carrie Strachan, which is truly stunning. Number 2 - the surprisingly apt artwork within the book from Andy B (what 'B' stands for is a mystery - if anyone knows please get in touch).
And finally number 3 - my desire to not make the same mistake that I did with Doctor Who issue 1.
If I say so myself - what a good call on my part! This one-shot is a fantastic comic book - filled full of the imagery ingrained within the Friday The 13th / Jason Voorhees franchise - and stuffed to the brim with excellent storytelling by Joshua Hale Fialkov.
The only bad thing about this comic? There's only one issue.
More please!
Pete's Score: 4 out of 5
(if you're a fan of Jason Voorhees you'll love this issue)
