REVIEW: Black Cherry Bombshells

Well - here we have another first for the Biff Bam Pow Comics blog - a webcomic review!

(my second, will be coming shortly - recommended by Erin yesterday)

So what can we say about Black Cherry Bombshells?

Zuda's synopsis says - "ultra-violent girl gangs fight for supremacy of a doomed future where all men have been mutated into flesh eating zombies. In Las Vegas the Black Cherry Bombshells, Led by the outcast Regina, are gaining a reputation as the baddest bootleggers in town. That doesn't sit well with a powerful, local crime boss; the woman they call 'The King.'"

Well, the description is spot on (lol) but it actually doesn't tell you what you might like to know - that this comic is also damn good fun.

Reading just the first page, those of you who will have watched any late night / exploitation cinema will notice the nods to Russ Meyer immediately, and slowly but surely notice the hints of Mad Max, smidgens of Escape From New York and dashes of Kill Bill Vol 1.

I did have one moment where I was a little confused with the story order - but on closer inspection it was 'user error' - I needed to fullscreen it to get the best effect, and all of the text.

Sadly, the only downer to all of this, is that there are only 8 pages online.

*cracks whip* Draw faster people!

Pete's Score: 4 out of 5
(definitely worth a read - be interested to see where it goes - don't resist because it's a webcomic)

Glad you dig it. For more information on the comic visit our production blog [myspace.com/blackcherrybombshells]

I think it's awesome you broke tradition to review a web comic.

Check out some of the other great titles at ZudaComics.com if you get the chance.
