REVIEW: Narcopolis - 3

So I've been racking my brains, trying to get to grips with what I liked about this comic. And it's literally just hit me. It reminds me of another book that I used to read - Neil Gaiman's Teknophage. And for that, perhaps I looked upon this comic a little favourably.

Either way though - I still think that this is a good comic, albeit pretty sadistic and deprived in many areas. Sadly, I've not read any of Jamie Delano's Narcopolis before this issue, but from what I can gather, I'm looking at issue three of a four part mini-series, set in a pretty dark future.

Jamie, in partnership with Jeremy Rock (pencils) has managed to produce a pretty memorable comic, but perhaps not for the right reasons. The script can often become confusing, but is somehow still compelling. Jeremy's pencils are often just spot on, then other times just a little off. It truly is a hodgepodge of art and script.

And yet... It somehow works. Perhaps its the sci-fi horror fan in me, but I couldn't help myself... I enjoyed this book a lot.

Pete's Score: 4 out of 5
(a mature title definitely not for kids - worth picking up if you're an adult who remembers Tekno Comics)
